Amazon: signs Western Union as cloud customer

(CercleFinance.com) - Amazon.
com said that Western Union has signed up for its Amazon Web Services (AWS) service in another contract win for the Seattle tech giant, as competition on the cloud computing market remains fierce.

The money-transfer company has selected AWS as its preferred long-term strategic cloud provider, as it plans to move a significant portion of its infrastructure to the cloud.

Western Union said it will be using AWS to build a "more seamless and reliable" platform for its customers, who send money and payments to over 200 countries through its mobile application, website, and agent locations.

Amazon also said on Tuesday that AWS has expanded its strategic partnership with CRM giant Salesforce.

As part of the deal, Salesforce - which already relies on AWS as its primary public cloud provider - has chosen Amazon as its preferred contact center technology provider.
