SAS: loss deepens in Q4
(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday SAS reported a deeper Q4 loss due to high fuel prices and unfavourable exchange rate movements.
The Scandinavian airline suffered a pre-tax loss of 1.7 billion Swedish kronor (155 million euros) over Q4 (August to October) - compared with a loss of 945 million Swedish kronor a year earlier.
However, revenues almost doubled to 10.65 billion Swedish kronor in the quarter, compared with 5.67 billion Swedish kronor a year earlier.
Quarter-on-quarter, SAS' passenger traffic rose 13% on 15% more capacity, resulting in a load factor of 77%.
At around 11 am, SAS shares were down 0.2% on the Stockholm Stock Exchange, although this was actually just above its European sector index - the STOXX Europe 600 Travel & Leisure was down 0.3%.
