Ahold Delhaize: new ambitions in healthy food, plastic waste

(CercleFinance.com) - Dutch-based retailer Ahold Delhaize on Monday unveiled a new set of ambitions to help customers to make healthier food choices, to increase product transparency, and to eliminate plastic waste.


The supermarket group said its local brands aim to further increase sales of healthy own-brand products to over half of total own-brand food sales, with a target of 51% by 2022.

At the same time, the company is working toward zero plastic waste from own-brand packaging by 2025, through packaging reduction and moving to recyclable, reusable, or compostable plastics, it said.

The group also plans to cut food waste from operations, halving it by 2030, in line with the UN's goals.
