PostNL: EU clears acquisition by Daniel Křetínsky

(CercleFinance.com) - Under EU Merger Regulations the European Commission has approved the acquisition of Netherlands-based PostNL N.
V., based in the Netherlands, by Vesa Equity Investment, based in Luxembourg.

PostNL is a public limited company listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange, primarily operating in the collection, sorting and distribution of mail, parcels and other goods in Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the UK.

PostNL has been appointed to provide the universal service obligation in the Netherlands.Eanwhile, Vesa is an investment vehicle that is controlled by Mr Daniel Křetínsky, a Czech citizen. He holds stakes in companies active in the energy, utilities, media and e-commerce sectors.

The Commission concluded that the proposed concentration would not raise competition concerns as the two companies are not active in the same market or in related or complementary markets.
