KPN: acquires fiber network in Netherlands
(CercleFinance.com) - The Dutch telecoms operator announced on Monday that it is about to acquire the fiber-optic network belonging to the investment fund Primevest Capital Partners, in an undisclosed deal.
KPN states that the transaction's scope represents some 127,000 connected households in urban areas such as The Hague, Rotterdam and Eindhoven.
The group explains that the transaction is part of its strategy to increase the density of its fiber-optic network in the Netherlands, with the aim of covering around 80% of the country by 2026.
Its fiber optic network currently covers some four million homes.
Following this announcement, KPN shares were the biggest risers on a dull Amsterdam AEX index (-0.2%) on Monday, up over 1%.
