ArcelorMittal: details 'net zero' plan

(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday ArcelorMittal Europe specified its aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, with breakthrough technologies enabling a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030.


"ArcelorMittal Europe is investing in two routes to carbon neutrality, Smart Carbon and an innovative DRI-based route, in recognition of the need to act now to reduce CO2 emissions, in line with the EU's Green Deal and the Paris Agreement," the group said.

In addition, the group says it is calling for "a new policy framework" to support the industry in its transition to carbon neutrality, while ensuring that European steelmakers are globally competitive.
