Eni: Versalis transforms business in Porto Marghera

(CercleFinance.com) - Last night Eni announced that its chemical company Versalis will transform its activities in Porto Marghera (Italy) with the implementation of several industrial initiatives in the area that have required investments of over 500 million euros.

Versalis is building the first advanced mechanical recycling plant for post-consumer plastics, following the acquisition of Ecoplastic's technology and facilities in 2021.

The plant will produce styrenic polymers from recycled raw materials that have already been sorted and pre-treated. The total capacity of this first phase will be around 20,000 tonnes/year.

Versalis will also build the first plant in Italy, in Porto Marghera, for the production of isopropyl alcohol, a product currently imported entirely from abroad and used in many market sectors. The plant's capacity of 30,000 tonnes/year, is in line with the demand of the domestic market and is considered a strategic step for Versalis in the specialisation of its portfolio with higher added value products.
