Mediaset: further increases stake in ProSiebenSat.1

(CercleFinance.com) - Mediaset said on Wednesday that it agreed to boost its stake in ProSiebenSat.
1 Media as part of its plan to forge a "strong" relationship with the German TV broadcaster.

According to a filing with regulatory authorities, Mediaset now has an 11.7% stake in the German media giant, from its previous stake of about 8.9%.

Including all instruments, its stake represents close to 24.2% of ProSiebenSat's voting rights.

In its latest annual report, Mediaset defined the stake as a "friendly" investment, driven by an increasingly international perspective, and the need to generate economies of scale and compete with top global players, such as Netflix.
