Rolls-Royce: commissioning of a customs vessel
(CercleFinance.com) - The new 67-metre German customs vessel 'Rügen' has been officially commissioned.
It is powered by four Rolls-Royce 4000 series mtu 16-cylinder gas engines.
mtu gas engines provide propulsion and, in some cases, on-board power.
Rolls Royce says that mtu gas engines' advantages include their low exhaust and noise emissions, as well as their dynamic performance.
The 'Rügen' is designed for operations at sea lasting several weeks. It was built at the Fassmer shipyard in Bern, northern Germany.
Reliability, ease of operation, dynamic engine performance and low emissions play a major role in the Coast Guard's demanding tasks. These advantages of mtu gas engines help us to further expand our market share in our strategic maritime business, it adds.
