Anglo American: stock down after production report

(CercleFinance.com) - The Anglo American stock is down 1% in London today, after the mining group's announced a 7% year-on-year increase in total production on a copper-equivalent basis in Q4 2018, excluding the effect of the shutdown in Minas-Rio.


"Solid operational performance resulted in a 23% increase in production from our Copper business, more than offsetting the impact of infrastructure constraints at Kumba," said Chief executive Mark Cutifani.

The group, originally from South Africa, also reported a 12% increase in De Beers' production to 9.1 million carats, as well as a 3% increase in platinum and palladium production, to respectively 602,300 and 386,600 ounces.
