GSK: creates R&D Institute with Oxford University

(CercleFinance.com) - GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has announced a major five-year collaboration with the University of Oxford to create an Oxford-GSK Institute for Molecular and Computational Medicine.


Based at the University of Oxford, the institute will focus on R&D around new medicines by building on knowledge of human genetics and using cutting-edge technologies such as functional genomics and machine learning.

Scientists from both entities will help identify the R&D programs that are most likely to succeed and meet the needs of patients.

The institute will receive 30 million pounds in funding from GSK.
