bp: bids for wind farm project in Netherlands

(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday bp announced that it has submitted a bid for an offshore wind farm project off the Dutch coast, which has a capacity of up to 1.
4 gigawatts.

The project involves the development of two sites in the Hollandse Kust Wind Farm Zone (HKW), located 53 kilometres off the coast with an area of approximately 176 square kilometres.

bp says its participation in the tender includes an "unprecedented" 75 million euros to support the marine habitat and monitor the health of the biodiversity around the park.

There's no wind at present though, with the bp share currently down over 2.5%, underperforming the market in London (down about 2%).
