EDF: new cost estimate for Hinkley Point C

(CercleFinance.com) - Following a review of the timetable and cost of construction of the two nuclear reactors at Hinkley Point C, EDF says that the project's completion cost is estimated at between 25 and 26 billion pounds (2015).

Unit 1 is now scheduled to start generating electricity in June 2027. The risk of delaying delivery of both units is estimated at 15 months, assuming no further pandemic outbreak and no additional effect from the war in Ukraine.

EDF explains that during the two years of the pandemic, people, resources and the supply chain have been stretched and the cost of civil works, particularly marine works, has increased.
