Engie: announces collaboration with Anglo American

(CercleFinance.com) - Engie today announced that it is working with Anglo American to develop a renewable hydrogen solution to "decarbonise" the mining industry.


This project is part of Engie's strategy to promote renewable hydrogen to help customers decarbonise their operations and is part of Anglo American's zero-impact mining initiatives.

This partnership will for the first time see the transformation of a truck of this size and load capacity, Engie will provide hydrogen production solutions and Anglo American will develop the vehicle, Engie says.

The hydrogen truck is set to be commissioned in 2020 and will be followed by a testing and validation program at Anglo American's Mogalakwena Platinum Group Metals mine in South Africa. Other trucks will then be deployed at other Anglo American sites.
