Plastic Omnium: builds plant in Michigan
(CercleFinance.com) - Plastic Omnium has announced the construction of the largest US hydrogen storage plant in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, to supply a major US automaker, while not specifying which one.
The OEM will design, develop and produce high-pressure hydrogen storage systems for zero-emission mobility in heavy-duty and commercial vehicles. A state-of-the-art validation and prototyping laboratory will also be commissioned.
This future 200,000-square-metre plant, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 high-pressure hydrogen tanks, will be commissioned at the end of 2026, aiming to be net zero.
The plant is expected to represent a total investment of around $170m and create 175 high-tech industrial jobs. This investment follows a record $2bn order won earlier this year.
