Thales: contract for air traffic control centre in China

(CercleFinance.com) - Thales has announced signing an agreement to set up a major air traffic control centre to manage the entire Terminal Maneuvering Area (TMA) of Canton and to ensure the continuous monitoring of all aircraft within the operational area.


The high-tech group said that this new facility will house TopSky ATC, the world's most advanced air traffic management system, which will ensure independence and a synchronisation between Guangzhou TMA and the ATM centres in the region.

With over 14 million inhabitants spread over almost 3,000 km2, the megalopolis has three of the busiest airports in China, including the country's second largest, with over 80 million passengers per year and about 1,300 flights per day.
