TotalEnergies: pens deal with Oman LNG

(CercleFinance.com) - TotalEnergies announces a start of gas production on Block 10 onshore Oman, as well as the signature of an agreement with Oman LNG for a long-term LNG purchase agreement.


TotalEnergies holds a 26.55% interest in this Block, alongside OQ (20%) and Shell (53.45%, operator).

Gas production is expected to reach 500 million cubic feet per day by mid-2024. This gas will be injected into the Omani grid, supplying both local industry and LNG export terminals.

This LNG will contribute to the reduction of emissions into the atmosphere as it will enable the electricity companies purchasing this gas to substitute it for coal and thus avoid CO2 emissions.

TotalEnergies has also signed an agreement with Oman LNG to purchase 0.8 million tonnes of LNG per year for a period of ten years starting in 2025.
