Nokia: selected to extend MetaLINK's network in US

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia announced on Wednesday that it has been selected to extend the network coverage of US Internet Service Provider (ISP) MetaLINK in certain rural areas of the US.


The agreement stipulates that the telecoms equipment supplier will increase the capacity of MetaLINK's mobile and fixed broadband networks in north-west Ohio, north-east Indiana and parts of southern Michigan.

MetaLINK says the use of Nokia's CBRS spectrum technology will enable it to offer broadband connectivity in areas where fiber deployment would have been too costly.

Nokia says that over 90% of the US population is now connected to the Internet thanks to its equipment, and that seven out of every 10 homes with fibre in the US are connected thanks to its solutions.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
