Nokia: to digitise Poland's PGE energy grid

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia said that Polish energy group PGE has chosen its 5G-ready private wireless technology following a successful trial that began in April 2019.


The 450 MHz private wireless network will support between 15,000 and 20,000 radio users over LTE/4.9G, as well as wireless connectivity for up to 14 million smart meters, the Finnish telecom equipment maker said.

The machine-to-machine communications system includes wireless connections required, for example, with wind turbines, it added.

Future applications of the network may include distributed energy resource management and other digital smart grid applications, Nokia said.
