Siemens Gamesa: contract for project in Virginia

(CercleFinance.com) - Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has announced that it will conditionally supply SG 14-222 Direct Drive offshore wind turbines to the 2,640 MW Dominion Energy Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project in the US State of Virginia.


All turbine installations are expected to be completed by 2026. The agreement is subject to certain conditions, including Dominion Energy's final investment decision, governmental authorisations and other necessary approvals.

Once up and running, the project is expected to provide enough clean energy to power 650,000 homes at rated capacity, thereby avoiding 3.7 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per year compared to fossil fuel-based electricity generation.
