Novo Nordisk: invests in rebuilding insulin plant
(CercleFinance.com) - The Danish pharmaceutical group Novo Nordisk announced on Friday that it intends to invest 800 million Danish kronor (around 110 million euros) in modernising and extending its plant in Kalundborg, which is close to Copenhagen.
The laboratory says it plans to completely rebuild the plant, which alone supplies half of total volumes of insulin sold worldwide.
Production facilities, which were first built in 1969, currently cover some 1.2 million square metres and have over 3,000 employees.
The project is expected to be completed by 2022.
