Zalando: plans logistics centre near Paris

(CercleFinance.com) - On Thursday the US group GXO announced that it had signed a partnership agreement with Zalando to operate a future logistics centre near Paris.


The 140,000 m2 site, based in Montereau-sur-le-Jard, near Melun, will be spread over several levels and will be equipped with a number of advanced automation technologies.

GXO and Zalando say they have designed the site with the safety and well-being of employees at the heart of their priorities, with the installation of air conditioning systems, rest rooms, outdoor terraces and shuttles to create a more pleasant working environment.

In addition, the building will be equipped with a photovoltaic generator on the roof, which will supply up to 50% of the site's electricity needs.

Zalando explains that the commissioning of this ultra-modern warehouse will enable its French customers to benefit from lower delivery times.

For GXO, the operation of the logistics centre should create around 2,000 jobs over the medium term.
