Osram: launches 'germ killer' to combat virus
(CercleFinance.com) - Osram is launching a "germ killer" that can be used in offices, cars and homes, in the latest move by industrial companies to expand into new markets in these difficult economic times.
The German ligthing group, which is now part of Austrian sensor maker ams Group, is looking for new growth areas during the pandemic.
In a statement, Osram said its portable air purifier uses ultraviolet light to destroy viruses and bacteria, with a reliability of 99.9%.
With its UV-C lighting technology, Osram has already supplied surface disinfection devices to over 2,000 hospitals in Wuhan and Beijing, China, at the start of the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020.
It did not provide further details about pricing and availability.
