Nestlé: posts first-half organic growth of 2.8%

(CercleFinance.com) - Nestlé said on Thursday that it delivered "solid" organic growth and improved margins in the first half, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

Revenue in the six months from January to June was 41.1 billion Swiss francs, compared with 45.5 billion Swiss francs in the first half of 2019.

Organic growth - which strips out the effects of currencies, acquisitions and divestments - was 2.8%.

Growth was spurred by sustained momentum in the Americas region, by pet food brand Purina and by nutritional science unit, the food giant said.

Its underlying operating profit margin reached 17.4%, up 30 basis points, Nestlé added.

The owner of San Pellegrino mineral water and Nespresso coffee capsules said it expects full-year organic sales growth of between 2% and 3%, with its underlying operating margin also expected to improve.
