Solvay: 'promising' prospects in consumer goods

(CercleFinance.com) - Solvay yesterday spoke of the "promising" prospects of its consumer goods business, which is to be incorporated into its future specialty products business.


During a webinar on Wednesday, the Belgian chemicals group pointed out that this subsidiary, named "Solutions", had managed to increase its Ebitda margin from 15% in 2018 to 19% last year.

The scope of this business includes its agrochemicals, personal and household care ingredients, coatings, food substances, and flavours and fragrances.

The presentation comes after Solvay March announcement that it intends to split into two independent listed entities in order to unlock its full potential.

In this context, the "Solutions" activity is to be integrated into the "SpecialtyCo" branch, which is to include high-growth, high-margin polymers and composite materials.

This business unit generated net sales of around six billion euros in 2021.
